I can't for the life of me do the rope braids on my own but with this tool it took like 2 minutes. Some tips I can share with you I think he other reviewers must not have done is brush the hair your twisting really well, I used a little bit of gel in my daughters hair on each section to make it straight and stay together, and make sure the hairs at even lengths when clipping it in the grooves, I held the machine out and slowly pressed the button as if twirled her hair (be careful not to over twirl it I did it at 1st and had to redo it), then I just followed the arrow and turned the machine that way until it was as tight as I wanted it (again don't over twist it) and the picture was the finished product from my 1st time! There are probably some YouTube tutorials of people showing you how to use it but it really was great and easy, I loved the result.

My daughter got this in her stocking from grandparents. I didn't think much of it at the time, but my life, or rather my hair, situation quickly changed! These twists! Oh, these twists. Just one simple twist in thick or thin hair. It's brilliant and easy! I have claimed it as my own. I sometimes also use it on my kids but I almost have to beg them to let me.I'm here to order one for my niece. You know, so my sister can have one too. And I can't believe the dismal ratings! A tool, my friends.Five stars!! PS. If it is resulting in tangle mess you are doing the manual twist in the wrong direction. Follow the arrow!

Works great. My daughter loves putting twists all in her hair.

Works well. I've been using it for a while, but I use it for making synthetic dreadlocks. It helps make the twisting part go much faster.

Works great for twisting yarn fringes.

Works like a charm. I have waist length hair, so I usually have to clip in the hair midway twist and clip on the end and twist again.Twist hair quickly. Great for short hair.

It is the perfect hair twister to do a very quick twist. I got it on Christmas and it took a while for me to get used to it but now I got good at it

I've been wanting one of these for a while now. I do twisted rope braids in my just past waist length hair pretty regularly and the of something that would do the twist evenly and quicker than I could by spinning hair around my fingers was inviting. So first- this is not a 'braid' with an over under pattern. If you're a spinner, you'll recognize that it plies hair. You put a spin into two chunks of hair with the machine, then twist that. While it does come with hair elastics, a lot of the time the friction and tension between the different spins can hold it in place without elastics if you're using smaller sections of hair. The hair is being twisted one direction with the braider, then you twist the two strands together in the opposite direction. It is quicker and more even than doing it by hand, with less likelihood of tangling in extra hair because it's easier to hold at a distance from the rest of my hair and working from the ends up- generally when I do it by hand I twist a few inches at a time and more free hair is hanging while I'm twisting starting from closer to the top.The only time it seems to tangle in my hair is if I over twist. This is great for quick accent braids, and you can easily add ribbons to your hair styles with it. Be very careful again not to overtwist so the ribbons don't get tangled in your hair. Practice first with plain hair so you know how long to twist for your length, texture and the amount of hair you're twisting. Smaller sections take a second or two longer. It takes 2 AA batteries which are not included. Included are some small clips and cloth cover hair elastics and inexpensive ribbons. If you want to secure your braids with a nice look, I'd recommend the small rubber/silicone type elastics or even embroidery thread rather than using the included elastics.I'm happy with it. It does exactly as expected.

I understand why but this just as a play toy, thinking that it would not work, but it actually works very well, and it works so well that you have to be careful not to twist their hair too tight.

Not as easy to use as you would think but it does do a great job once you get used to using it!

This did a decent job of creating braids in my hair. Took a moment to get the hang of it.
